Using Pinterest for Blogs

Pinterest has become such a popular social media platform allowing users to have their own boards where they can pin items they have seen on Pinterest and love, it’s perfect! Over the years Pinterest has included a business element to their website, allowing business’s of all types build up a presence and following through their social media platform.

We have been using Pinterest for business for past couple of years and found that it has had a great impact on our online presence through social media and through Google search engine. We have decided to put together a series of blog posts that shows you how you can maximise Pinterest for your business and the type of features they offer for businesses alike.

This first post is about using Pinterest for your blog posts.

1. If you write blog posts you could create a board with a pin cover designed in something like Canva as they give you the provide a template of the exact Pinterest dimensions for pins and design mock ups (www.canva.com, that’s for another blog post). The pin cover could say something like FROM OUR BLOG or NEWS FROM OUR WEBSITE and link that first cover image to your blog and then every time you create a blog post, create a new pin in your Blog Board with an image for the cover and a link to the blog post
2. Something else to consider with your blog post pins is in the cover image, make sure to include an eye catching image but also the title of the blog post, this will make it easy for users to know what your pin is about and they will be more likely to click other than just a plain simple image.
3. Also the description of your blog post pin is very important, you should make sure it includes a brief description of what the blog post is about, as well as trying to include relevant keywords (to help build up your SEO – Search Engine Optimisation).
4. Pinterest have a great feature, once you create a pin you can then share that pin on Facebook and Twitter, this will help users find you on Pinterest through other social media sites.
5. This will also boost your online presence with all social networks as they will be sharing your blog posts along the way resulting in users ending up on your main website blog which will build up your websites traffic, resulting in a higher ranking in Google. Who Knew!

That is all for this blog post, we hope you find it useful and you start building up your Blog on Pinterest.
