There have been highs and lows. Successes and fears. Big achievements and (not so) little panics.
But above all? It’s been a massive year of change for Littlebigbox.
2019 has felt like a constant climb; in the best possible way.
Too often – especially as business owners – we focus on the negatives. The areas we could have “done better”. Those times we just missed the mark.
This Christmas, I’m saying no to that. I want to celebrate how much my business has grown in the past 12 months and end the year with a huge pat on the back.
So here are my proudest 6 moments of growth from the past year. Here’s to Littlebigbox!
1. I grew in confidence
In March I was asked to host a talk for media students at Southampton Solent University. It was my first ever talk and it’s safe to say the nerves were real.
But once I was there, it couldn’t have felt more natural.
I shared my own story of how I got into web design and my advice on going self employed. The room was vibrant, with tons of inquisitive voices following up the talk.
I left with a renewed sense of purpose for my business; it was the perfect reminder of how far I had come and how much I had already achieved.
2. I grew my writing portfolio
Squirrelling away on website design is obviously my passion… but I have such a strong love for writing about the subject too!
This year I was asked to write three guest posts for Solent University, WomenWhoDo and SOCIALight Magazine.
It’s a wonderful feeling knowing other organisations see you as an expert and that they truly respect your insights and views on the industry. I really hope to continue growing this writing portfolio in 2020; I’m bursting with ideas!
3. I grew my team
I couldn’t talk about my 2019 top moments without paying homage to the newest member of my team, Ewan Castle!
Ewan heads up the Isle of Wight section of Littlebigbox, supporting start-ups and small businesses based on “the island”.
Hiring Ewan has been transformative for my business; he has opened us up to a really exciting range of businesses, allowing Littlebigbox to take on more work and widen our skill set and specialities.
Ewan focuses on microSites (a part of the business I have been developing this year) and has proven a vital member of the team.
4. I grew my clientele
Up until now, the majority of my clients have been based in Hampshire. However, this year I’ve been delighted to work with three clients from further north.
Two of these websites are yet to launch (stay tuned in January!); Declaré Skin and Beauty Clinic in Derbyshire and The Skin Pro Academy in Liverpool.
Bliss and Beauty – based in Leicester – is hot off the press LIVE and I am so pleased with the end result.
While I love my hometown down south, it’s brilliant to see the reach of Littlebigbox extending further and further. Who knows where it will get to in 2020?
5. I grew some exciting ideas
This year I’ve really wanted to challenge myself; to push myself outside of the (LittleBig) box and develop something new.
I am currently working with the powerhouse Nisha Haq (award winning wedding photographer and all round #BossBabe) on a collaboration project. I can’t reveal more yet… BUT it is due to launch in 2020 and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!
6. I grew my network
Perhaps my most favourite point of all… 2019 has been the year my business and personal network grew exponentially.
I have had the pleasure of working with some incredible local businesses this year; both with and for Littlebigbox. My little black book of businesses is splitting at the seams!
But I’ve also made life-long friends; other business owners who understand my journey and are there to join me on it.
To each and every one of you; thank you for making 2019 one of the best!
And now… bring on 2020! Expansions, collaborations and exciting projects; I think it’s going to be a corker!
