We use WordPress for so many of our projects, so we thought we would share with you some of the plugins that are a must have when you have a WordPress website and they are all FREE.
1. WordPress SEO by Yoast – SEO (search engine optimisation) is important for every website but can be a bit of a pain to maintain unless you have the right features. This plugin allows you to easily add meta data to your posts, pages and even products, it also has a guide in place to let you know how well your page is ranking and it’s score. It also provides some advice on things you could do to improve your pages SEO score. You can download the plugin here
2. Askimet – Askimet is a plugin that is great if you have a blog that allows comments on your website, it protects you blog from a majority of spam and only a few ever get through. You have to have a wordpress.com account to receive a code to activate Askiment but that is free and easy to do. You can download the plugin here
3. Jetpack – Jetpack is a great plugin that offers a number of different features to keep track of your websites rankings and a feature to add social media icons to your website. It also has a widget that sits on the dashboard of your admin panel showing you how well pages rank, number of visits you have had and where from and pages that have been viewed. 4. Wordfence – This plugin is designed to protect your WordPress website from viruses and hackers. Wordfence offers several settings to help protect your website, as well as a scanner where you can scan the files of your website to make sure none of them have been compromised. It will also alert you if any files or plugins have any issues that could be a threat to your website. If you hold a lot of personal data on your website this is great plugin to have. 5. W3 Total Cache – If you find your website is a little sluggish, this plugin is great for helping organise files to help increase the speed and user experience of your website. You will find if you have a high number of plugins on your website this could occur. You can download the plugin here
6. MailChimp for WordPress – If you use MailChimp for sending out newsletters to clients, you can download this plugin which will allow you to integrate your sign up form with your wordpress website, allowing users to sign up to your newsletter straight from your website, rather than you having to manually add them to your list. You can also choose the list that users can sign up to. You can download the plugin here
