When Zoe Watson first approached us earlier this year about potentially working together, we have to admit; we were pretty in awe of her mission. As an NHS GP, Zoe had seen (and experienced) her fair share of mental health challenges. And her goal was to do something about it – to provide a space that actually had wellbeing at the heart, rather than it simply being a buzzword or a marketing ploy.
Immediately, we were on board – who wouldn’t be? What Zoe had meticulously planned sounded incredible: an online community that was OFFICIALLY a ‘no bullsh*t zone’ bursting with different tools, outlets and inspiration to support people’s wellbeing, whatever that looked like for the individual.
But, it was going to be a big job… Super different to anything we had worked on before. We knew we could do it – we wanted to be a part of this.
It’s safe to say that we were over the moon when Zoe said ‘YES!’.

These days, there are a lot of memberships out there. For Zoe, it was crucial that Wellgood Wellbeing didn’t come across as just another cookie cutter platform. She wanted it to feel engaging and exciting, in-depth and intuitive.
The problem was, the project hadn’t started off in the most positive way. There had been some ups and downs with suppliers and contractors, meaning that the timeline for launch was off kilter. This all led to Zoe having her first experience of burnout while creating the platform (the irony of which she says is not lost on her!). It was therefore crucial that she really felt she could trust the next people she chose to work with; that they could (and would) take her vision and run with it.
Initially, the website and membership platform had been set up using Wix – but Zoe quickly realised that the functionality wasn’t up to par with what she needed for Wellgood Wellbeing. We suggested switching to WordPress, as it – in our opinion – the leading website platform and has unparalleled plugins, customisation and flexibility. Plus, with its Memberpress membership plugin (alongside custom coding), we could give Zoe everything she needed to make the membership easy to use, beautiful to navigate and fully branded.
We created a thorough proposal (highlighting precisely how we would bring all of her incredible ideas to life) and then – once we had two thumbs up – threw ourselves in and got started.
You know when you feel really, really proud of something? Yeah, that!
Wellgood Wellbeing had a chunky list of requirements – and we were able to tick them all off, culminating in an epic website.
The membership platform needed to run on a subscription basis.

This was important – both for the customer journey and Zoe’s own work processes. We integrated subscription functionality into the website so that customers could sign up directly through the website and then access their level of membership area depending on the subscription they had purchased.
We also added a custom function where people could donate a membership of 3, 6 or 12 months which would then be handed to someone on the ‘wellbeing waiting list’ who perhaps couldn’t afford a membership themselves. Again, this was a core part of Zoe’s mission as she wanted the platform to be as accessible as possible.
The website needed to have advanced search functionality.
Wellgood Wellbeing would have loads of resources for members to work through – a number that would keep growing. Zoe didn’t want them to get decision fatigue, and so she wanted to include a random page generator if customers weren’t sure what they were looking for.
She also wanted a pop up questionnaire so that customers could pinpoint the most appropriate content for them – something we were able to add in with ease.

Zoe wanted Wellgood Wellbeing to be a one-stop shop – she didn’t want members having to go back and forth from the site to get what they needed. We therefore added Spotify and video integration so that customers could watch and listen to content, all while staying within the platform.

Wellgood Wellbeing is a platform that would constantly need updating as new events and content came in. To enhance this ‘live’ energy to the site, we added a calendar where all upcoming events would be listed. This could then be filtered by month, day or list view.

Alongside the website, Zoe had produced a welcome sequence for anyone signing up to the membership. We were able to integrate her newsletter provider – Mailchimp – into the website so that it would automatically kickstart the nurture sequence every time a new customer signed up.

The platform needed to capture Wellgood Wellbeing’s vibrant brand

Zoe had worked hard on developing a strong, recognisable and unique brand – it was integral that the website was the perfect epitome of that. From her brand colours, to typography, brand photography, graphics and illustrations, we implemented a huge range of custom coding to sprinkle elements of her brand through the entire site.

‘Before working with April, I was about to give up in all honesty! I’d been let down by multiple people when trying to pull the platform together, and it felt like such a huge lift to try and pull it together. I nearly walked away on multiple occasions because I thought what I wanted to do was too out of reach. I’m so glad I didn’t.
‘The experience with Littlebigbox was amazing. April is an absolute legend. She’s a calming and level-headed presence. She helped to temper my ADHD brain explosion of ideas – and made them into a reality!
‘I think my favourite parts of the platform in general are the nature immersion videos and also the recipe section. Partly because they are my two favourite areas to create (the nature immersion videos involve me crawling around in forest and rivers, filming little snippets of nature, and the recipes? Well I get to make them and eat them haha!) and partly because I just find reading and watching them very soothing.
‘I have huge plans for Wellgood Wellbeing. My main goal is to get Wellgood Wellbeing into as many hands as possible – particularly into the hands of those who aren’t normally able to access high quality, engaging wellbeing resources like WGW. Those people are the ones I want to reach the most – NHS and Key Workers, people struggling on low incomes, and people who normally feel excluded from the wellbeing space. This is their place. And they are the ones it was primarily built for.’
You’d better bet that we can!
