Homeware eCommerce website case study: a fresh new shop for Sorbet Living

Sorbet Living is a homeware brand all about the art of living well. Debbie Gent, the owner, brings together a carefully chosen collection of timeless pieces, many of them handcrafted by independent artisans.

Every item has its own story. So when Debbie came to me wanting to update her website, the aim was clear. The new site needed to feel as warm and considered as the products themselves, while making it easy for customers to shop.

What Sorbet Living needed

Debbie’s products are beautiful, and the website needed to do them justice. It also needed to work hard behind the scenes, helping more people discover the shop and making the journey from browsing to buying as smooth as possible.

How I approached the redesign

I started with how people actually browse for homeware. Most of us are looking for ideas as much as products, so I introduced curated seasonal collections. They bring together timeless pieces that help customers create a cosy, stylish home throughout the year, and they make browsing feel more inspiring.

The handcrafted side of the business deserved to shine too. The new website puts a real spotlight on the independent artisans, so visitors can see the care and craft behind each piece.

Next came the navigation. I simplified the layout so it’s much easier to explore categories like dining, living, and bed and bath. Everything is now only a few clicks away.

Product pages that help people choose

When you can’t pick something up and hold it, the product page has to do that job instead. I gave each one clearer descriptions, detailed care instructions and more images, so shoppers can see the quality of each piece and feel sure about what they’re buying.

A journal full of inspiration

I also designed a Journal section where Debbie can share home styling tips, seasonal trends and stories about the artisans she works with. It gives visitors a reason to come back, even when they’re not ready to buy just yet.

Alongside the build, SEO work helped make sure more of the right people can find Sorbet Living online.

The result

Sorbet Living’s new website is welcoming and inspiring to browse. It shows off the collections beautifully, while the thoughtful structure underneath helps customers find exactly what they’re looking for.
